This tiny gadget (pictured above) is all that it will take to let you capture 720p video in HD 3D on your mobile phone. Manufactured by Sharp, this device is designed for mobile devices such as digital cameras, phones and even netbooks. The 3D camera is likely to be trialled in Japan. Then if successful, it will be “licensed out to other manufacturers to tantalize us with eye-popping possibilities” say Gizmodo.

Although this sounds like a very intriguing idea, previous 3D digital cameras haven’t exactly done well, such as that of Fujifilm’s FinePix Real 3D W1 digital camera. So it begs to ask the question as to why this will succeed, or will it just be another novel app to have amongst all the others. Well, Gizmodo believes that these 3D camera modules could be seen in gaming consoles such as that of the Nintendo 3DS as it is rumoured to be using Sharp’s ‘glasses-less parallax barrier tachnology’.

This mini wonder is due to be sampled in July and to then hit mass production before the end of the year. Not much else is known at this point as Sharp released their press statement today. However, we will not be suprised if this miniscule device will have a monstrous price tag attached.
