Xbox Kinect: What Are the Buyers Saying

Last week we took a look at what the experts were saying about Xbox Kinect after it launched in the US. Today, the motion-sensing hands-free gaming controller has hit the stores in the UK, so we decided to feature some of the comments or expectations the actual buyers of the £130 controller are having at the moment.

BBC Radio’s Newsbeat went to a Game store in Milton Keynes for the midnight opening of the Xbox Kinect and spoke to some people who were there to buy the Xbox 360 add-on. Here are some excerpts from the comments. (more…)

Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360 01

“The gods have lifted the Curse of the Microsoft Hardware”. This is what experts are claiming Kinect are doing to the gaming industry. Well we’ve decided to delve a litle further into what could be a revolutionary console. We’ve looked at the good, the bad, and the down right ugly comments that have come from all experts. Let’s see what they’ve got to say.

Microsoft though have had their heads in the clouds this week after their Kinect went on sale yesterday in the US. Microsoft were celebrating with a fanfare and even a dance party as they released the new product (to be fair to them, they did have reason to celebrate as they are expecting to sell 5 million of the new controller-free gaming systems this Christmas).

We have to wait another week though, as Kinect will hit the U.K. and European markets on November 10th. So whilst we’re calmly (!) twiddling our thumbs, we have decided to have a look at what the tech gurus are saying about this small motion sensing camera that is expected to change the future of gaming as we know today. While I was expecting over the top reviews about the Kinect, I was un-pleasantly surprised at what I heard. Read on! (more…)

Now, I don’t know whether i’ve been completely ignorant or just plain blind to the fact that there are Sims videos EVERYWHERE, but I hadn’t come across this strange phenomena until today. It seems that some Sim fanatics out there have been making mock videos of popular music videos and films. A must-see i’ve got to admit. And once you know about these, you literally find them everywhere you go. Anyway, enough of me jabbering on, it will be better if you see one for yourself…. (more…)

Last week Nintendo announced the 3D version of its handheld gaming console DS, Nintendo 3DS. Many detailed specifications were also revealed along with the official announcement. However, we didn’t know the chip being used for the glasses-free 3D graphics. Instead of the standard Nvidia Tegra, a DMP PICA200, from a company called Digital Media Professionals, with a 200MHz clock speed is used for pushing pixels to Nintendo’s autostereoscopic screen.
