Sony is celebrating 25 years of its famous Handycam brand by unveiling the NEX-VG10 – the world’s first consumer HD camcorder with an interchangeable lens system.
It is the first Handycam to sport an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor (the same one found in the NEX-5 and NEX-3), and it’ll shoot 1080p24 with a wealth of E-mount and A-mount lenses. It’s also capable of capturing still photos at 14.2 megapixels, and the 18-200m lens that’s bundled with it is about as versatile as they come. It also features the Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone and the 3-inch swivel display, Optical Steadyshot image stabilization, BIONZ processor and twin accessory shoes. There’s no internal storage but it will accept SDHC / SDXC memory cards in addition to MS Pro Duo.
It is estimatted to land this September for around US$2,000 (£1310.95).
