When Microsoft partnered with Facebook to show its’ search results (first with Live and then with Bing) along with Facebook’s search, we were expecting a shift in the way search engines use people’s data to show personalised search results.

Now Microsoft and Facebook have announced a new partnership that brings users “Like” data and profile search to Bing. This deal is a big step forward in making the internet search “more social” and will certainly give a huge advantage to Bing over the search giant Google that doesn’t enjoy the privilege of having user’s personal likes and dislikes. Samsung Teases

WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is yet to roll out even outside the US but several companies have started designing their products for WiMAX 2.

Samsung is teasing with WiMAX 2 with Samsung’s new CEATEC demo. Filling four separate HDTVs with streaming Full HD and 3D content, the Korean electronics manufacturer is advertising its latest advance in mobile broadband connectivity that takes the top speed up to 330Mbps, a third of the theoretical max capability of WiMAX 2 (1Gbit/sec). Indie group, Arcade Fire, have just brought their fans (and non-fans) an interactive music video. Director Chris Milk teamed up with unlikely partners, Google Chrome for this new experience. Viewers will now be able to see their home featured in the band’s own music video. (more…)

All UK residents will now be able to watch over 400 movies on YouTube. This follows YouTube’s earlier launch with Shows, where users would be able to watch full length TV shows such as Fifth Gear. America had Movies and Shows released to them in April last year, and now we will be able to have the same. Films on offer include Alice in Wonderland, Night of the Living Dead and Home, amongst many others.

Google has been quite busy introducing new features to it’s products this month. It’s YouTube’s turn now Google has announced YouTube will be featuring its top videos in a new section called YouTube Charts.

“This page will keep you updated on which videos are trending right now, which are all-time classics, how various vids stack up against one another and more. Think of it as the Billboard Hot 100 for the world of web video,” explains Mashable’s Jolie O’Dell.

Just as the talks about Facebook’s privacy issues seemed to have died down a little, a Canadian security researcher Ron Bowes has  sparked a debate and revived the hype surrounding this social networking site. He did this by releasing 100 million Facebook users’ data on to the popular BitTorrent search engine, Pirate Bay.

While we all love Google’s street view for virtual tours of the places we love, or to quickly navigate through a street, Microsoft’s Street Slide is far better if you want to quickly jump between the bubbles for navigation. Microsoft research has developed the Street Slide in an attempt to compete with Google’s navigation tool and you bet they mean business this time. Not many words!
