New iPod Touch Announced, Engadget Gets First Hands-On

Apple announced the new iPod Touch yesterday with the company adding almost the same features as in the iPhone 4 – to keep it an “iPhone without the phone”. The new features include the Retina Display from the iPhone 4, an Apple A4 core, 3-axis gyroscope, Game Center, FaceTime support thanks to the addition of a front cam, and a rear cam capable of HD video. Location-based social networks like Foursquare and Gowalla have been around for a while now and we knew it was just a matter of time before Facebook, the biggest social network, joined the club with location-based services.

As expected, Facebook has finally joined the rest of the social media world by announcing “Places,” a feature that lets users “check in” to a geographical location and broadcast that info to friends.

Gmail for iPad Updated with Stacked Cards
