Back in August, Microsoft announced the shipping date and prices for Mac Office 2011 and as promised, they made it available yesterday.
The update to the Microsoft’s flagship product and most popular productivity suite includes a number of major additions, including the return of Visual Basic scripting, the replacement of Entourage with a Mac version of Outlook, and integration with Microsoft’s online collaboration tools.
Office 2011 for Mac is available to purchase from Apple, Amazon, or directly from Microsoft. If you’re happy with Word, Excel and Powerpoint, you can go for Home & Student version that has a retail price of £109.95 for three licenses, and if you want Outlook also, Home & Business version is available for £189.95.

Though Bluetooth has been around for years now, its range is limiting especially if you’re working in your garage and want to access something on your laptop from your phone. Finally, Wi-Fi Alliance listened to the demand of my heart and has introduced Wi-Fi Direct and have started certifying several new laptop components. As many of you might be wondering its possible uses, I believe the possibilities are endless. (more…)

While Apple fans proudly show off the Apple logo on the back of all their devices coming out of Cupertino and are happy with whatever Apple have shipped, some of us want to customise our iDevices to be different. For iPhone users we showed some unique iPhone cases, but it’s iPad fans who are going to be privileged to have a chance to give a little personal touch to their 10″ tablet.
If you’re planning to buy an iPad, Apple has a great new deal for you as you can add a laser-engraved message onto the back of your iPad for free. However, there is a price to pay in terms of the delay in shipping time and special sales and refund policy. (more…)

I remember my first portable music player. It was the Sony Walkman with a cassette player and it steadily became a big part of my life. Last month we told you about a humanoid robot iCub that could teach itself to use a bow and arrow. The use of artificial intelligence in robots is not something very new but a robot that can read your mind to perform certain actions and train itself is a novel idea.
A team of researchers at the Neural Systems Laboratory, University of Washington, lead by Dr Rajesh Rao is aiming “to take brain-computer interface (BCI) technology to the next level by attempting to teach robots new skills directly via brain signals.”

Back in April we were sad to bid farewell to the Floppy Disk as the optical disks killed the old magnetic diskettes. Well it seems that history is going to repeat itself with probably USB flash drives now killing optical disks.
