Not only has James Cameron had his fair hand dabbling in 3D films, he’s now helping NASA build a high resolution 3D camera to visit Mars. Director Cameron’s latest film is 3D phenomenon ‘Avatar’. By winning Oscar’s for Cinematography and Art Direction, Cameron is now turning his hand to help NASA find life on Mars, ready to launch in Autumn 2011.
The Ocar winning director is working closely with Malin Space Science Systems Inc. of San Diego to help with the development of robot rover, Curiosity (pictured above). It will be equipped with the new 3D camera, giving the rover the ability to film cinematic sequences of Mars. It’s mission will be to “study the habitability of Mars and whether it can or did support microbial life” says Crave.
When filming Avatar, Cameron used the Fusion Camera System, which is a lightweight 3D camera system. Now Cameron hopes that this technology will help bring Mars to life.

For those of you that surf the waves and are finding it a bit nippy in this English weather, then take a look at this. A heated wetsuit, designed by Rip Curl. The H-Bomb wet suit is 3/2 millimetres thick with a heating panel for your back. It gives you three settings (controlled by a switch on the lower left side) and so you can decide whether to have short boosts of heat of up to 124 degrees Fahrenheit or a constant low medium or high heat, says Geeky Gadgets.
Although it looks stylish and has a portable ‘plug and play’ desktop heater with slimline battery placement, Wired found that the batteries needed extra cleaning after surfing and came in quite expensive, at $1,000. The heated panel essentially transforms you into a ‘shark friendly hot pocket’ and is maybe more of an expensive gimmick than a snug wetsuit.

The very new and very exciting Lenovo Lephone is causing quite a stir with it’s clam-shell like look and detachable qwerty keyboard. Not only does it have Wi-Fi, a full touch screen display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, front and back facing cameras and it runs Android 2.1 OS, but it also comes with a customizable case integrating a speaker system and a secondary battery.
Phew! That’s a lot to take in – but doesn’t it sound good?
Only problem is it’s available just in China. Boo is boo.
